I mina bilder vill jag undersöka en annan verklighet, en verklighet som existerar i skuggan av fasader. En vacker tomhet där de sanna jagen blottas och där allt får existera. Ett ifrågasättande av livet; Om vad som är viktigt på riktigt. Jag vill visa det absurda som kan uppstå om man fryser ett ögonblick ur vilken persons liv som helst, och där igenom också ifrågasätta de normer som ordnar in oss i ett tidens regelfack.
Det handlar om hur vi hanterar situationer, möten, konflikter, känslor både främmande och bekanta. En parallell värld där jag utforskar det mänskliga beteendet och hennes livsrum, både med och utan hennes medverkan.
Med en melankolisk kuliss försöker jag kontextualisera det vackra i det sorgliga, det utsatta, missanpassade och vilsna i en närvaro av något förbjudet, farligt, skamligt och smutsigt.
Man gräver där man står och oavsett om man står kvar eller har gått vidare, lämnar platsen djupa spår. Alla människor har spår, mer eller mindre överväxta men för somliga är det fortfarande avgrundslika hål som aldrig förändras. Jag vill medvetandegöra och gestalta detta, väcka till liv och visa det vackra som finns i fasadens skugga.
“I Marcus Bagges bildvärld möter vi ett sammelsurium av livets fram- och baksidor. Inte minst låter sig detta skönjas i Bagges svartvita enigmatiska linoleumsnitt. Motiven är skarpt och hårt utskurna så att bilderna mest påminner om fotostatkopians kontrasthöga bildvärld. En värld av förlagor som fångar motivens händelser i stiliserad och suspenderad form. Linoleumbladen ger utryck av att vara frysta och blekta, kaotiska och oroväckande, trots sin motivmässiga tydlighet. Små skevheter i motivet i samklang med Bagges linoleumteknik genererar en positiv instabilitet i bildupplevelsen. Vad är det som sker? – är en fråga som ofta uppkommer i mötet med Bagges grafik. En fråga som betraktaren själv får fabulera ihop ett svar på.”

In my art I want to investigate another reality, a reality that exists in the shadow of facades. A beautiful emptiness where the true selves are exposed and where everything is allowed to exist. A questioning of life; About what is really important. I want to show the absurdity that can arise if you freeze a moment out of any person's life, and through that also question the norms that organize us into a compartment of the rules of time.
It's about how we handle situations, meetings, conflicts, feelings both unfamiliar and familiar. A parallel world where I explore human behavior and her living space, both with and without her participation.
With a melancholic backdrop, I try to contextualize the beautiful in the sad, the exposed, misfit and lost in the presence of something forbidden, dangerous, shameful and dirty.
You dig where you stand and regardless of whether you remain standing or have moved on, the place leaves deep traces. All people have scars, more or less overgrown but for some they are still abysmal holes that never change. I want to raise awareness and shape this, bring it to life and show the beauty that is in the shadow of the facade.
"In Marcus Bagge's world of images, we encounter a collection of the different sides of life. Not least this can be discerned in Bagge's black and white enigmatic linoleum cuts. The motifs are sharply and tightly cut out so that the images are most reminiscent of the high-contrast image world of the photostat copy. A world of templates that capture the events of the subjects in stylized and suspended form. The linoleum leaves the impression of being frozen and faded, chaotic and disturbing, despite their clarity of motif. Small distortions in the motif in harmony with Bagge's linoleum technique generate a positive instability in the visual experience. What is happening? - is a question that often arises when meeting Bagge's graphics. A question to which the viewer himself must fabricate an answer.”
